birthday presents…
have started arriving. My parents got me Practica Musica… a music theory software package. Sweet! It looks pretty comprehensive..some will be a review (much needed review) and some will be new. It even has stuff about songwriting! I can’t wait to dive into it.. should be perfect for a 3 day weekend.
I’m getting a little bored with my recital songs, even though they’re not perfect yet. I know them by heart, but it takes a few times through to play them without messing up. I’m working on a new fingering pattern for Tuxedo Junction because I kept missing the notes the way the book had it. It’s hard to change it now and should’ve been working on it all last week, but finally decided to try it tonight. Working on some songs from the Oh Brother Where Art Thou book… I’ll fly away…big rock candy mountain… and something about a highway… I love that type of music (whatever it is). Need to get my piano tuned.
I think the deer are eating my junipers. I was wondering why they looked so puny when they looked like they had a lot of growth on before… the ends are all chewed off. : ( depressing. Now what? They’re still chowing down on my arborvitae too. I guess I need something with thorns. Lots of gardening to do this weekend too.
Work is a drag… are you noticing the gradual slide? I guess work just wasnt’ meant to be fun. I was introduced as “the smart one” to the new guy though. : ) That was a ray of sunshine in my sunless, airless day in cubicle land. No, it’s not bad. But it is sunless and airless and I feel dizzy every afternoon (i’m guessing from lack of sun, air, and movement).
Do you know what a fractal is? I didn’t, but now I do. Ok, actually I still have no idea, even though I did skim through this article on wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fractal They’re kind of pretty. How do some people get so darned smart?

Oh well. Good night. Oh, saw Eddie the grouse tonight. He kept his distance though. Smart bird.
