Banana chocolate chip muffins
Yum. I’m in a baking mood. And a cooking mood. It was a rainy day at the air show so they cut me loose after 3 hours. Glad I got up at 5:30 am for that! grrr. Oh well…So I spend the rest of the day cooking and napping and reading and watching movies. (Inside Job and Wild Hogs… Inside job was sort of interesting and has hunky Clive Owen).
Yesterday I made lentil soup to get rid of all of the tomatoes in the fridge. Then I made butternut squash lasagna (yum). This morning I noticed we had a bunch of rotting bananas and found this recipe in my king arthur flour cookbook. They are really really really really good. I threw some butterscotch chips in there too. I think I’ll go up to my mother in laws later and give them away. I was so “in the zone” with my diet last week but it only takes one bad meal to get me off track. So today I’m going to get some exercise and stop baking tempting treats.
Still working on my wicca book. J bought one about paganism in general. I’m intrigued but it seems a little silly. But, to me, all religion seems a little silly. I’ve been to church probably 5 times in my life and I just could barely keep from rolling my eyes. Am I just too practical? The whole heaven thing just seems like a fairy tale to me. Do people really believe that crap? (no offense if you do). I mean I totally understand the want/need to believe that there’s something more, but it seems awfully naive and childish to believe in the pearly gates and all that jazz. But I also believe that the social aspect of church, the ritual aspect of religion, and connecting with somethign spiritual is necessary and healthy. And I think that type of thing can help you connect to… whatever you want to call it… your psychic nature.. the other realm. For example… studies have shown that prayer actually works. I don’t see this is as proof that any particular religion is authentic, but the fact that when people really tune into the spiritual that they can make something happen. And prayer is basically the same as what the wiccans call magic.
Anyway, it’s pretty interesting and I want to work it into my book somehow. So we’ll call it research and if I end up dancing naked around the pine trees as a result, so be it.
What else? Might go apple picking today. I love doing that but then i’ll just have to bake more things.. apple pies… apple tarts…apple sauce.. : ) As much as I like to eschew (wow, I don’t think I’ve ever actually used that word before) these domestic chores, I actually really love cooking (hate cleaning up though). I guess this post is all over the map. Oh well. : ) Time for a shower. Maybe I”ll go shopping. I want to check out the new winter coats at beans.
