Major progress…

on my book! In fact, I’d go as far as to call it a breakthrough.

I’ve been reading this book called “Plot & Structure” by James Bell. It’s written (as most books about writing seem to be) by someone who’s books I will most likely never read. As in popular fiction. Popular crime fiction. Sorry… I may read John Case here and there and even Dan Brown, but Dean Koonz (sp?) John Grisham, etc. will most likely never come across my reading list. I’m not exactly a snob. I just don’t really like stuff like that. And these books are always sort of obnoxious and say things like “Write a literary novel if you’d like, but nobody’s going to read it.” So, that part is a little annoying (since I happen to like literary novels), but all in all, I think this is a worthwhile book. It’s helped me. I have a million of these books, but I never seem to finsih them, because halfway through I panic and think  “I need to be writing, not reading stupid books about writing!” Which is sort of true, but it really does help to understand the basic structure of a story that works.

So… ta da! I have a complete synopsis of my plot. Well, actually I have the teaser for the dust jacket. Plot details to be worked out, but D-A-M-N… I wanna read this book! Yeah… pretty exciting. I’m going to write it on a big piece of paper and stick it to my wall. Lots of details to work out.

Should start packing. Also need to practice for my apple bobbing competition. My boss is competing and said that our performances (or at least our enthusiasm) would be recorded on our evaluations. I tried to tell him that I’m more of a cerebral type of person… not athletic, but he wasn’t really listening.

I’m working on Fantasia in D by Mozart on the piano. I like Mozart. My teacher said I was very gifted and a natural at timing. : )
