A quick post from the road
We’re in beautiful (or not) downtown (?) Fresno tonight, celebrating our anniversary with a lovely and healthy meal at mickey Ds. We would have really gone for the big time at Denny’s but I was afraid to get out of our lovely rented minivan. : ) But it’s all good. We had an awesome time in San Francisco and now we’re perfectly poised to see the giant sequoias tomorrow. Today we drove down scenic highway 1 along the ocean and it was just gorgeous. A little scary. But gorgeous. Stopped in Carmel by the sea for lunch and just kind of tootled around. Also went to Big Sur, which isn’t actually a place, but I guess more of a region. I was kind of confused by it and started to think Big Sur was just a myth. But it really has to be one of the most gorgeous spots on earth… especially with the sun reflecting on the water and the birds (condors?) flying over and the cliffs….ahhh.. : ) Reminds me of the Lucinda Williams song “Ventura”…
SF was really cool. We walked nonstop for 3 days. went to SFMOMA which was ok, but I’m just not a huge fan of modern art. I’ll tell that funny story some other time. Walked through the Autumn Moon Festival in Chinatown. Bought a picture that a guy painted. Went to Alcatraz and walked around a milion neighborhoods. Well, I’m pooped… time for bed. It’s already Tuesday! (Wednesday eastern time). I’ll post pictures when I get back. : )
