The shocking truth about pant suits

*Important news bulletin*
Hillary wears pant suits! And sometimes they are yellow! Don’t you know that yellow pant suits can seriously impede the successful running of a country! Oh, and she’s a bitch too, with a shrill voice. (and she doesnt’ have a penis). Oh, and she’s not super model attractive either. And kind of old and wrinkly. Just thought you should know.

Anyhoo, so I got a few things crossed off my garden list. 5 things to be precise. Here are some pictures.

There we go… basically I got all the clover out of this area, which was intermingled with all the periwinkle and then I mulched the hell out of it. I have no doubt the clover will come back, but what can I do? mulch, mulch, and mulch some more. There’s my non-flowering flowering dogwood. Had it 3 years… 4 years? and the damn thing has never bloomed. Oh well. Would like to buy a buckeye.

Started on my book. whoo hoo! Was supposed to write 11 pages, but only got one done. But I’ve started and that’s all that matters. I’ve been working on my piano song, but I don’t feel like I’m making a helluva lot of progress. It sounds rough. So basically, today was super lovely, but made my head hurt. Everything makes my head hurt lately. But maybe that’s a good sign…maybe that means synapses are forming or something. : )

Went up to J & Js to see J’s crazy aunt and uncle from baltimore. Still crazy. : ) and I got a super duper out of the deal. Now I’m making a frozen pizza. I’ve been eating a bunch of crap lately. Oh well… Back to work tomorrow. : ( 2 day weekends really aren’t enough. But I’m determined to be productive and fabulous at work from now on.

One more picture from teh garden:

Wild iris along my driveway. I think this is what they call “blue flag” but I’m not 100% sure. But I know I didn’t plant it. My other irises are flowering too. gorgeous! I love irises.

Sunday

Well…first of all, I bought my kayak! My plan for the day was sleeping in, doing some mulching, working a short story for my final writing class… But J wanted to go to the map store and then hit Freeport and I needed to get my sister a present, so I went along. The map store is kinda cool. Delorme is a big map company and they’re based in Yarmouth, which is about 20 miles south of where we live. I drive by it every day on the way to work. They have the biggest rotating globe in the world, or somethign like that. She’s called “Eartha.” Anyway, it’s sort of one of those quaint tourist traps along Route 1, along with the big Indian and god knows what else. I looked around for a birthday present for my other sister (she’s a cartographer and her birthday is coming up soon too) but found nothing. J bought some charts of the bay near our house where we want to go kayaking.

So off to Beans. We’ve been planning on buying kayaks since last summer but were waiting for the “paddlefest” which is an event in June where you can try the different boats out in the water and get 10% off. But we wanted to have an idea of what we wanted so we stopped in at their paddling store. Well.. turns out they had 10% off all boats, 20% off all accessories…that’s huge when you have to buy everything, so we bought everhthing. Actually J didn’t get a kayak since his wasn’t in stock but I got the beautiful Necky Eliza in Lime green. Here she is.

Pretty, huh? : ) I got really stressed out though. But it’s over and she’s home and I’m under budget.

Thursday I finally went to my eye doctor (did I already write about all this?) Basically I’m allergic to my contacts so I have to wear my glasses for the next month. I’m taking 2 different eye drops 4 times a day. They still feel sore but they look a little clearer. I also bought 2 pairs of prescirption glasses..high definition too… Kate Spade.. $1000. What am I doing? But they’re cute.

Weight loss war… not going well. I’m actually up a pound. I feel like I’m covered in a big roll of blubber. But I keep eating and drinking.. J says it’s my writing that causes me to have bad habits. But that’s not true because I hardly ever write. Tonight though I started a short story for my final writing class on Tuesday. 833 words and I have yet to discover a plot. I’m sure it will show itself eventually though. The openeing 2 paragraphs kick ass though… so much potential…

I’m beat. Worked all day yesterday at a kids festival for work. Ha! Yeah, I know.. how did I get that gig? Kid hater that I am. But they were actually wicked cute. The great thing about kids is that the littlest things can make them so happy. So it wasn’t bad and I made $300 in overtime. Carpooled with my boss and that was ok, but he asked me some questions about some issues that are gonig on and I didn’t really want to get into it. But whatever. I tried to be nice but honest.

Other than that, I’m totally broke! But the weather is awesome, the daffodils are blooming so life is fucking grand!

Turn your head. one day I’ll figure that one out.

Oh, so get this. Remember the bird mites from last year? We had a bird’s nest under the porch and when the birdies left in late July, their little mitey mates decided that I was breakfast, lunch, and dinner for them. Then they got in the bed, and all over the house adn I thought I’d go insane. But we did eventually get rid of them. So I get home yesterday and J says to me “I watched the bird build her nest under the porch all day. Because of my new buddhist beliefs I can’t remove the nest, so you should do that tomorrow.” Um, yeah. The bird mites were absolute hell, but I cant’ ruin a bird’s nest. The poor thing slaved away on it all day. : ( So I was basically in tears and stressed out. But this morning I looked online and it is apparently against the law to do anything to a wild bird. yay! I was happy. J said “nobody would ever know” but I’m a law abiding citizen so I’m not touching it. Next year, we will have to really wire off teh  porch so she can’t get back under there. My plan this year is to watch closely and as soon as they are out of the nest, to get it down and as far away from the house as possible. And keep the miticide handy. fun stuff.

So, to recap the day, I went out looking for a birthday present and spent $1700 on kayak supplies. But in the end, I got my sister a cute gingham sleeveless buttom up top from beans and a packet of Stonewall kitchen snickerdoodle mix. At least I’m keeping the money in Maine. Even if it’s all made in china.

And that is the weekly update. I’m sooooo ready for bed right now. It’s 7:25 so I guess I have time for a quick nap before bed~

Tuesday

I’ve been a bit of a blob lately, but tonight I got back out for some exercise. Increased my run/walk time to 25 minutes and increased my running distance to 4 laps. It feels so good. And I did my weight lifting. I’m on week 9 and trying hard to keep it a habit. And to round out my perfect evening, I stuck to one glass of wine despite the fact that there’s still half a bottle left. I may yet set a record for the longest a bottle of wine has ever lasted in my refrigerator. I’ve probably said this a milllion times over the last few weeks, but the less I drink, the less I realize I feel a helluva lot better when I don’t. J is very impressed with my moderation (something I’m not really known for).

My house is still infested with mites or something. I think I got them out of the bedroom, but I’m pretty sure I can feel them crawling on me right now… arrgghh.. it’s enough to make me insane. BTW, have you heard of this Morgelons disease? ee-uw. : ( Those poor people…it sounds like a horror movie… creeping crawly feeling all the time, open sores, and then fibers (like thread) come out of their skin. Some people in the medical community refuse to admit it’s a real disease despite the fact that thousands of people have it (mostly in Texas, Florida, and California.

Anyhoo… I have a weed that it’s my weed garden that I was hoping was the purple loosetrife I planted last year. For weeks now all the purple loosestrife in the state has been blooming…but, I think mine just started! Thistle is blooming too. Weed shmeed, it’s pretty! I’ll take a picture this weekend. I keep meaning to look into these stock photo sites online where you can post your photos and collect commission on them. Not sure if anyone wants pretty pictures of weeds, but you never can tell. People have paid good money for stranger things.

I feel a little ill. : (~ Maybe indian food, red wine, running, and weight lifting don’t all go together so well.

Work is busy. Writing like a fiend 8 hours a day trying to keep up. It’s fun though. Sales letters are my favorite. : ) The fun part will be when these start mailing and people start calling in with their orders (I hope). It would be nice to see that something I did had a real positive impact…not just on the bottom line, but on people’s health too. I’m lucky that I get to write for a company that offers a good product, has a lot of integrity, and actually cares about their customers.

Fleabombing the office next. Shock and awe continues! Watch out fleas…er..mites..whatever.

My sister is coming the weekend after next. I’m excited. The whole family together gets ugly, but individually they’re all good. She’s probably the coolest one, but can get a touch moody sometimes. My plan to combat that is to 1) not be irritating (wha?… me?) and 2) keep her really busy! So far I have planned: a trip to an island to find sea glass, a party on sebago lake, a kayaking trip, a trip to the eagle’s nest, dinner at the indian restaurant… well, she’s only here for 2 days. : ) Maybe she’ll love it and decide to move here.

This one I call…

Red lillies at dusk…

And this one is “home sweet home”…. : )

Wild, wonderful, home.

Ok, in this picture it looks like just grass… but you get the idea. : ) Feeling much better tonight, both physically and mentally. I’ve been a wreck all week. Still battling a cold… feel a little run down, but much better. Even went for my jog up the driveway tonight! Still panting. And hacking. Oh well… use it or lose it. AND… I had a healthy fruit smoothie instead of my usual cocktail(s)/bottles of wine. I am officially on a health kick!

Like clockwork, thinking about certain people today. Cycles of the moon I guess. Work is going well…Busy weekend. Concert tomorrow. Kayaking Saturday! Now I’m excited, not scared at all. Well, need to have a shower and do some reading. Getting close to the end of Labyrinth and then I need to pick The Power of Myth back up.

Garden pictures and turtle eggs?

OH! this was the night Tom came home…none the worse for wear. : ) What a boy! He was hungry. Poor kid. I hate to think of him out there all scared. : ( Who knows what he saw. But now he’s home and safe and he just has memories.

Isn’t it precious? It reminds me of a pin cushion.

Turn your head sideways. Callas from my long past away grandmother. This reminds me of a georgia o’keefe print that I bought in Austin about 10 years ago and never hung up. But those were yellow. Must frame that! J says they are too subtle, but I think they are lovely.

  Stella D’oro… I have 5 of them in a clump. They’re pretty.

Coreopsis moonbeam had buds, getting ready to bloom. My other coreopsis…tickweed… is blooming. Pretty.

Mountain laurel. These are very pretty, but the shape of the shrub is all f-ed up. The flowers are all on teh back side. doh! I’m going to buy one more though, to make it three, and I’m sure they will eventually grow out of their awkward phase.

Turtle eggs? Everywhere.
